Explore the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and Plum Island aboard the 24 passenger "Joppa Flats." This trip is approximately 2 ½ -3 hours. Reservations are required. Call (603) 682-2293. Hours of operation: One trip daily (trip must coincide with high tide. See schedule below.) One of the most common requests we get from our passengers is for longer tours that go deeper into the natural beauty of the Great Marsh. So last season we expanded our business to offer just that, and the new tour was so well received that we've scheduled even more trips into the Refuge this year! Our new boat, the “Joppa Flats,” is a newly converted Navy Launch Vessel (yes, it has a bathroom!) which can take you comfortably down the winding Plum Island, Essex, and Parker Rivers and back, or perhaps up the Atlantic coast of Plum Island and back into the Merrimack. Get away from it all with a longer voyage, and bring your camera! The Parker River National Wildlife refuge is home to more than 300 species of birds, and boasts sand dune and maritime forest ecosystems in addition to the salt marsh. Often we will be joined by a member of the Wildlife Refuge staff. Enjoy the peaceful beauty of one of the top five birdwatching sites in North America ! Reservations Required. NOTE that a trip is not offered every day. This is because the high tide does not coincide with reasonable business hours. Days with no times listed are days when it is impossible to navigate in the refuge during business hours. May/June
